Hawcharkh<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A poetry collection by Anwar Abasi (Haras) translated in English has been published and distributed. The book\u00a0Songs at a SUITABLE<\/em> FREQUENCY from a 53Hz Whale<\/em>\u00a0is a repertoire of Abasi\u2019s poetic style in the English language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tara Korkmaz, who translated this collection, shared the following with the Hawcherkh website: \u201cTranslating poems, such as those of Anwar Abasi into another language carries its own challenges and trials. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of this challenge is to preserve the linguistic potential and original meaning attributed by the poet in the works, who, in a way, has morphed his words that have happened in a particular language into poetic verses. To convey the same semantics in another language without deviating from its original form, the translator must fully recreate them in the second language. In the translation of this book, I have tried to select those poems by Anwar Abasi that I had no trouble with them in this regard. That is why we chose the title (Songs<\/em> at a SUITABLE FREQUENCY from a 53Hz Whale<\/em>) so that we could reference this process. In the future, I look forward to translating Anwar\u2019s more linguistically complex poems into English for others to enjoy.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tara Korkmaz holds an MFA degree in \u2018Documentary Media\u2019 from Ryerson University School of Image Arts in Toronto, Canada, and although she writes poetry herself, she is an interdisciplinary artist. Her creative work is not limited to literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anwar Abasi, known more as \u201cHaras\u201d, is a Kurdistani poet and writer based in Sweden. He has published several poetry books and novels in Kurdistan and Sweden. Abasi spoke of this book: \u201cIn the past few years, there have been many attempts to translate and publish my poetry in English. But for some reason, it was postponed every time. Tara, who is now one of my closest colleagues, has various skills that make her of capable carrying this task. Firstly, she is also a poet, and secondly, her artistic mindset has an academic tone, and she understands contemporary art and literature well. Most importantly, her proficiency in English makes me feel safe to entrust my own poems to her.The book title was a mutual choice for both of us. Number 53 is of personal importance to me, and by writing Fifty-three instead of Fifty-two, with reference to the \u201c52 Hertz Whale<\/em>\u201d, we have made the name of the book more conspicuous, and on the other hand, we have given it an ironic undertone, as well as other things…\u00a0Songs at a SUITABLE FREQUENCY from a 53Hz Whale<\/a><\/em>\u00a0has been published and distributed by Lagrange Publishing in France and is now available to the public on Amazon<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
